The Selina Dress

Designing and creating a bespoke wedding dress for my best friend Selina was one of the greatest honours of my life. To be entrusted with bringing her dream to life for the evening celebration of her July wedding to George was both a joy and a privilege. From the very first sketch to the final fitting, the process was infused with love, laughter, and friendship. Selina wanted something she could truly be herself in, a dress that made her feel comfortable, confident, and ready to dance the night away. Every stitch, every choice of fabric, was made with her in mind.

The final design was a vision of elegance and joy: a corseted mini dress crafted from the most luxurious silk satin, perfectly balancing structure and softness. The draped bust framed her beautifully, while delicate off-the-shoulder Italian lace sleeves added a touch of romance. A shimmering train adorned with hand-beaded details caught the light, sparkling softly as the sun dipped low and again later under the glow of the dance floor. Watching Selina move in the dress, laughing and spinning, her happiness radiating outward, was an unforgettable moment. It was exactly as she had imagined and more.

To honour the traditions of her and George’s Greek celebration, I also designed a tulle and lace cape that could be easily slipped on for their traditional money dance. It flowed gracefully over the dress, complementing the design while allowing the custom to unfold without a single worry about the delicate silk beneath. The cape became a symbol of thoughtful design, practical, yet deeply beautiful, enhancing the ensemble with a touch of ethereal charm.

After the wedding, Selina had a photoshoot wearing her bespoke dress with her beloved horse, Penelope. Seeing her in that moment, radiant, free, and surrounded by love filled me with the deepest sense of hygge: that quiet, contented warmth that comes from shared memories and meaningful creation. This experience will forever be one of the highlights of my life, a labour of love that stitched together friendship, artistry, and the pure magic of a day she’ll never forget.

A modern winter bridal collection.

For my final major project at University, I created a bespoke bridal collection inspired by the serene beauty of the Alps, the ethereal glow of the Aurora Borealis, and the comforting warmth of hygge. Each piece was designed to be interchangeable, allowing endless mix-and-match possibilities while celebrating individuality. Pattern and texture played a central role throughout, bringing depth and character to every look.

To weave together art and fashion, I incorporated delicate handmade glass snowflakes onto the skirt in the collection, each individually crafted and hand-sewn onto the garments. Alongside bespoke prints that echoed the snowy landscapes and magical atmosphere of the mountains. The result is a collection that feels both enchanted and intimate, a snowy yet cosy world where craftsmanship, comfort, and bridal elegance come together in harmony.
