S&G’s Wedding Welcome Dinner.
When my best friend Selina and her fiancé George asked me to create the tablescapes and floral arrangements for their welcome dinner, I felt a flutter of excitement and gratitude - it was such a huge privilege to play a part in the beginning of their wedding celebrations (I also had the honour of creating Selina’s second wedding look see ‘Bridal Portfolio’ for the story of her dress as well as being a Bridesmaid) . The evening was set on the old grass tennis lawn at the enchanting Earnshill House in Somerset, with 100 guests gathering under the soft summer sky. The day itself felt almost cinematic: one of the hottest of the year, with the sun casting a golden glow over the pear orchard backdrop. My little team and I worked like busy bees, crafting the majority of the arrangements in my cool barn studio before carefully transporting them to under a shady tree, keeping every bloom as fresh as possible (under the stretch tent felt like a sauna) until the magical moment when the guests arrived.
The brief was whites with pops of butter and lemon yellow, a palette that felt like sunlight captured in flowers. I combined potted herbs and blooms with airy arrangements of hydrangea and agapanthus, complemented by carnations, ranunculus, and seasonal treasures. Lemons and scattered daisies danced along the tables with flickering candles, while a sculptural arrangement on the bar became an artistic focal point. As the guests arrived and laughter mingled with the soft background of music, the orchard and tables seemed to shimmer with magic. Surrounded by the friends and family of Selina and George, with the golden light reflecting off every candle and petal, it was an evening of beauty, joy, and connection - an unforgettable start to a wedding celebration that felt utterly dreamlike.
